Orange robes on Buddist monks

Not sure if this is the right section but my daughter has just asked me why do buddist monks wear bright orange robes? I don't know, any ABers who do?

Orange - or saffron colour - is the most seen on Buddist monks from SE Asia. Red colour is found in Tibet, and others found in other orders in different countries.
The use of earth pigments or dyes led to the plain colours.
