As Cromwell said; 'Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!'
She's a barrister though & wont starve - that is if anyone wants to employ her.
Trying to form a political movement from the top down never, ever works.
Once it was clear that no other or very few other MPs were willing to flee bigotry, antisemitism and extreme euroscepticism, then there was never a chance even of having a sizeable “top” to work from.
This is not an age of compromise or dare I say reason I’m afraid, but the wheel will turn.
The other mistake was chasing individual glory at the EU Elections, rather than working with the Greens, LibDems, etc., and going for the slow burn. If you want to set up a new kind of politics that emphasises compromise, cooperation, etc, then the first thing you'd want to do I'd have thought would be to demonstrate that you can do it too in practice.
Well that didn’t much matter in the end. The Lib Dems had a simple message, while Change were still holding focus groups and desperately marshalling candidates from nowhere. And they did so poorly the centre vote was hardly split.
Constant name changes, splits, they are a classic symptom of doing things by committee. But there are good people there and hopefully they don’t be wasted.
