Pinterest has sent an e-mail telling me to update the app or I will not be able to use it after 15th August. Is this likely or is it a scam? It directs me to a page requesting install but then requests a google password which I don't have. TIA

Do you get it via official places such as play store ?
In any case, if it stops working, you could update then.

It comes from a Pinterest email address (allegedly). If I have to update after 15th I will lose all my pins and boards, I think. I emailed back but was answered by a robot which didn't answer my questions.
Maybe contact them for confirmation but not by replying to the e-mail nor any contained links.
Highly suspicious if you lose stuff purely from an un-updated app. If they say this is so it'd scream scam to me. Where did they suggest you get the new version ?

Thank you so much for your answers. In the end 15th August came and went and my Pinterest account is working as normal. However, my partner, who had also received the e-mail, clicked on the message, clicked on "install" and now cannot use some of the features. He is going to send a message to the Pinterest helpline.
