Mouse automatically opens up icons & links.How can i stop this

I wonder if you guys & girls can help me out.I recently bought a Laptop & i have a slight problem with my mouse.Usually you have to double click on an icon to open it up or when your on the net you just click on the link.But what seems to happen is as soon as i put the arrow oer the link or icon it automatically opens up.This can be annoying at times.So is it possible to switch this function off or am i stuck with it this way.Thanks

Go to start, settings, control panel, and go to folder options. Check the setting for double click at the bottom.

Open the control panel from the start menu, click the 'mouse' icon, and settings. You should be able to 'uncheck' this function.
