We did laugh though when he said to the camera i feel as sick as a dog!!!! He couldnt really say he felt as sick as a pig could he!!!
Seriously thought i felt sick watching it.. but sadly thats life in a slaughterhouse, and it happens everyday. Perhaps It seems we were all attached to poor trinney and suzannah!!! Oink Oink!!

It upset my son too, I just offered him a bacon butty and it's the first time I've known him to refuse food!!
It was a bit sick but I just look away at things like that! Hope it doesn't play on your mind too much!
Did they give a warning about it? (I was skimming in and out of the kitchen so didn't pay much attention) As wasn't there an outcry of a lamb being slaughtered a while ago, was that Gordon too or a different chef, maybe Jamie Oliver?

just goes to prove that we live in a society where we no longer appreciate where meat actually comes from.we walk in a our supermarkets and choose our pre-prepared pre-packed meat and it somehow detaches itself from the facts that this was actually part of an animal.
i think many of us are hypocritical nowadays when it comes to meat ie we are horrified when we see an animal slaughtered for our culinary pleasure yet we gladly tuck in come meal times....myself included.

How right you are MattK, I totally agree. I won't harp on but I actually think they knew they were going to be hung, drawn and quartered. As GR said, they usually come out and greet him but they didn't that day. I thought they were sooo cute but I am glad I watched it cos it has made me even more determined to remain a PROUD VEGGIE!!
Mattk - spot on. Most of us are completely detached from the reality of where we get meat from. It's not just pigs - are people who felt queasy about that programme going to turn their noses up at beef and chicken and battery-farm eggs as well now? Or will they have to be shown more footage first? Not that it will last - anyone "put off" by those images will, I'm sure, be back to their normal eating habits within a week or two.
Hopefully some people derived some satisfaction from the fact that they were called Trinny and Susannah.

There is no doubt that we are detached from the actual blood and guts slaughtering process, but hopefully most of us are aware of what happens, and are therefore making an informed choice over whether to eat meat. I have no problems with the slaughtering process, and it seemed as humane as you could possibly make it. I wouldn't want to do it myself, though I might try out Ramsey's snail idea.
You have to remember that these were lucky pigs. They led a very celebrity lifestyle in very comfy conditions . Think of the poor mass-kept piggies and other livestock who live in crap conditions and transported for miles in little space to be slaughtered.
Never, ever buy meat from a supermarket - luckily where I live meat is a kind of 'tradition' so we have numerous very good butchers. Steer well clear of the already rotting products in Tesco and the like - "Value "? I think not !
Can't beat a good bacon buttie though !
