Hi,Is it possible to move the list of numbers (on the left hand side) in an excel workbook down one space.
I want to have the months of the year along the top of the workbook but this means I lose number 1 as the months of the year are in the same row. If that makes any sense to you?

Highlight the column starting in A1, Cut and paste into A2

^Or were you talking about the row header numbers outside the data area? I don't think these can be changed. You need to have your month headers sarting in B1 and the data rows starting in A2 leaving cell A1 null.

Right-click in one of the top cells, choose insert, entire row

outline the coulumn of numbers
move the cursor up to the edge of the outline
and you will find you can drag it where ever

ctrl+ cursor - you can drag a list anywyere and leave a copy in the original place

if you are using excel and want a video on its rather good features (in accounting) but also other branches

Hi guys.I've tried all of your suggestions but there still isn't a blank row to the right and above the numbers. Number 1 is still in the top row. Is it possible to delete the row of numbers?

I think zingo is talking about moving the row numbers. This cannot be done.

An alternative, zingo, is to create your own row numbers (in column A) beginning with number 1 in row 2.

You can hide the row numbers (though I think this will hide the column letters as well). Can'recall immediately how to do so. I'll have a look.

Thanks new judge.I did this last year and thought there was maybe a way to avoid 2 rows of numbers side by side.

I think you've missed the point, OG. Zingo wants to move the row headers so that he has a row at the top above row 1.

Cannot be done.
