Old Road Markings Not Fully Removed ?

When new road markings are done , do the old ones have to be fully removed by law ?.I ask because i noticed this one and you can see the old marking still visible ( although not as clear as new ones)as it curves in front of the exit ? for me the link goes to what looks like an exit perhaps off a roundabout going towards the M65. i cant ork out whats supposed to be old or new

As an ex Highways Engineer, I can't see any old markings in that shot; just lots of skid marks!

NO! They do not have to be 'fully removed' . It just needs to be 'clear' which are the new / correct ones!
On a practical level it is often very difficult or expensive to totally remove them . So they are normally just left to wear away !

Google themselves call him 'Pegman', suppose you could nae him yourself.

look to me like where new/old tarmac meets. Not a previous marking, after al hat on earth woud that previous marking have been depicting there?
