I am just reaching the end of Dylan Jones' biography of David Bowie, and the more you get into the book, you more realise the enormous impact Bowie has had on the world of popular music, and what a fascinating man he was.

Sadly missed, but I highly recommend the book to any fans - the blurb says it's the only book on Bowie you will ever need, and for once, the blurb is actually correct.

I've read one but I can't remember what it was called. Very fascinating insight into his life. I'm amazed some of these stars have made it to the age they have considering the lifestyle.

What comes over clearly about Bowie in the huge number of interviewees quoted is that he was entirely aware of his legend and his charisma, but he did his best to make everyone feel comfortable around him, and he was known for his considerable personal charm.

He has been a fan since his very early teens. He is now in his mid 30 s. He is also a great musician, but not professional.

Hi Andy

Just returned from my summer commitments abroad, so, on your recommendation, will nip into HMV or Waterstones tommorrow to get a copy....always loved Bowie and saw him three times in concert, if you include Live Aid too.

He was a fascinating man, always polite, and likeable, shy at times, but you had a feeling he had a dark,almost lonely side to him also, but oh boy, it was frightening just how clever and talented he really was.

Out of all the music icons who have sadly passed away over the years, he is still the person I miss the most, just simply because of what he achieved and what else he could have produced in Music, had he still been alive today.

I also saw him three times, once on the Glass Spider tour, once on another tour in Birmingham the album he was promoting escapes me, but the best and most memorable time was my first proper concert, seeing Bowie as Ziggy in 1974.
