as the beast from the east returns

We get the same every Year ! I am sure it is Double glazing and heating companies trying to increase sales !
The only 'Really Cold' winter in living memory was 1966 ! That really was the Coldest winter for more than 200 years !! In some places there was still snow lying at the end of May ! But then it all very suddenly changed and Summer 1966 was the hottest since records began, back in the 1890s ! I remember Summer 1966 ! It was so hot a lot of people took to sleeping outside the house ! Virtually no one had Air Conditioning back then ! We were one of very few people who actually had a 'Fridge' (most people just had a 'larder') We were overwhelmed by friends and neigbours who asked to keep their butter & milk in our small fridge.We had to put notes on stuff saying who's was which !

It was 62/63 and I don't know for sure but I think 48/49 may have been worse.

I say 48/49 but I just mean around that time.
Eddie says they kept a record of how cold it was for 200 years but only 70 yrs for how hot it was.
Again I don't know for sure but I reckon they both go back a lot further.
