I've often wondered why these places always seen to have a 'tasteful' window display of ghastly oversized statuettes of shepherd boys and fake Capo di monti or an array of argos electrical goods with vastly inflated price tags? I mean no-one in their right mind would go there to buy a 14" telly would they? and the garish ornament things aren't even winnable as prizes never mind for sale.
There must be some kind of psychology behind it aimed perhaps at the feeble minded who seem to spend most of their time and money in these places.

Maybe they are trying to make the arcade appear more homely, so the people will spend even longer in there,
or perhaps they think that if you win enough money on the machines you too can afford to buy one of these sophisticated ornaments.
