We're going on holiday next Saturday. Only going up to Auchtermuchty in Fife to a self-catering, dog-friendly holiday home. I'm dreading the travel already, having checked on all the road-works in operation. We live in an area to which people come on holiday and it has crossed my mind more than once that we may as well stay at home and designate a week as 'Holiday week' and do all the touristy things.
Part of me plans a trip to France to meet old friends - but another part of me quails at the sheer Hell of the traffic around London. We were once (not long ago) stuck in the car for 2 hours (with excitable dog) on a ferry because the docking machinery wasn't working. So I sympathise with you Caran. Beginning to think that holidays are not worth it. :( Very torn. Would love to revisit friend in Bangkok - but the journey was so long that it hurt and then I got Shingles (obviously from the 'plane air-con.).
