Since I’ve only ever seen the excellent Kris Marshall playing the dopey, but very funny, son of Ben Harper in ‘My Family’, I’m finding it difficult to take the character Tom Parker in Sanditon seriously. Every time I look at him I see ‘Nick’.

Mr. Sam used to play golf with Sean Connery. He can't take him seriously as an actor either. Apparently he was very mean, very slow to put his hand in his pocket at the 19th.hole.
I agree with Martin Freeman. He'll always be Tim from The Office for me.

And more recently, Cillian Murphy is Tommy Shelby.
Prudie - // I found Sean Connery totally believable in the Untouchables, //

Do you hear the difference between a Scots and an Irish accent?
Bill Nighy is the one who immediately springs to mind. I can't take him seriously at all. He will always be Billy Mack from Love Actually.

Oh yes, Nellie. Me too.
Prudie. Kris Marshall in Death in paradise was in fact comedic. I loved it when he was in it, but stopped watching when he was replaced.
Naomi, Martin Freeman too always makes me think of his role in alive Actually as a rather wooden porn actor in his first scenes!
he was a hunk in Love Actually
Question Author
Nellie, I think Martin Freeman is dreadful ... whatever he's in.
Confused Woofy. Martin Freeman or Kris Marshall? I cant imagine
either as a hunk though.
Kris Marshall Nelliemay, he goes off to the US to meet women....he's a dippy hunk but definitely a hunk.
No, Andrew Lincoln is the nicest in that :-)
I thought Rodger Moore was the same character when he was promoted from being 'The Saint' Simon Templar to being 007 James Bond.
//No, Andrew Lincoln is the nicest in that :-)//

I always found him completely stalker-y in that.

I think Martin Freeman is excellent in his role as Steve Fulcher in The Confession, so natural, but yes every now and again I see a mannerism from Tim in The Office !
Question Author
Until Woofgang mentioned it, I'd forgotten Kris Marshall was in Love Actually - but now I think of it he's still 'Nick' - and I wouldn't call him a hunk.
Nor I Naomi.
^ Ditto !
hc I found John Thaw in Goodnight Mr Tom to have the most appalling idea of a Norfolk accent! Another I think can't cope with dumbing down is Martin Shaw where he played that inspector - his accent and slow drawl was just unreal.
I haven't know any actor yet to get a correct Norfolk accent Lankeela. They all turn it into a west country accent!
