Good Morning Early Birds!

Sunday. The moon is shining brightly and it's almost like daylight. If it's as warm and sunny as yesterday I'll settle for that. I spent a fair bit of time soaking up the vitamin D and watching the wee burdies raiding the feeders. When I refill them, one cheeky wee sparrow sits on the table supervising, while the rest sit in or on the hedge and watch.

Just the usual shoplifting today.

Good Morning everyone. How was Krakow LCG?

Absolutely beautiful, MT. We didn't get back to Manchester until 10pm last night so by the time we got home to the Midlands I then had to drive my mother down to Hereford.

Krakow is quite possibly the most beautiful place I've been to, particularly the Jewish Quarter where we had lunch yesterday. Lots of places with live Klezmer music.

Wawel Castle and St Mary's Basilica are stunning. A horse and carriage ride is a must-do (don't pay more than 250 Zloty) and we had a lovely boat ride up the Vistula River, followed by lunch at a restaurant on the water coverted from an old boat. The weather was stunning the whole time.

Auschwitz was absolutely harrowing, I couldn't go again. The tour guide was brilliant though and her grandfather was a prisoner at Auschwitz at the age of 15. He survived and lived to the age of 92 but never stopped having nightmares about the horrors that took place there.

I am determined to go back to Krakow with my husband and do the things I didn't get to do on this trip

We did an easyJet package deal with 4 nights at the Queen Boutique hotel on Jozefa Dietla. It was a stone's throw from the Jewish Quarter and only a 10-min walk to the town centre. The hotel was beautiful, bubbles and smoked salmon for breakfast, staff impeccable and everytime we stepped out of the lift all the men behind the front desk would all rise to their feet and smile and greet us.

I really can't wait to go back.

Thanks so much for that. It sounds excellent we've been wanting to go for a few years now but couldn't get flights from Luton, however Wizz Air are starting next year. I'll save this thread and jot down all the information. We usually take a trip on a river boat if we can, it's a great way to see everything. We take a look at the hotel too. Thanks once again x

I need to go back as well Lcg, we didn't get to do the salt mines but we did do all you've done in your post,we just never had the time for the mines after packing everything in

I am pretty bushed, DT.

I regret that I didn't get time to do the Schindler Factory but that will be done next time, probably with the Salt Mines and maybe a day trip to Zakopane.

Auschwitz - Birkenau requires a lot of walking so wear comfy footwear.

I tried the pierogi and it wasn't really my cup of tea. The food up the Jewish Quarter looked amazing. We had a big bowl of green curry and coconut soup yesterday which was filled with shrimp, chicken and noodles with a bread basket each - only £4 each.

One last tip ... take your own teabags!
