I have listened to this album a lot, but has anyone noticed how the titles of other songs pop up in the lyrics of various songs! Am I correct and if so why?

I haven't listened to it in years. I'm a big Gabriel fan.
Also haven't played it for years.

I loved Trespass and most of Nursery Cryme, but never got to grips with Foxtrot at all.
Because Gabriel thought / thinks he's very clever! And not just the titles of songs either - in In the Cage, he sings "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" and "(My little) Runaway".

They're all listed in "The Annotated Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" by Scott McMahon et al.
JimF - // Because Gabriel thought / thinks he's very clever! //

And he is, as are the rest of the band.

Personally I never have any problem having my intelligence appealed to in any art form.
Neither do I, but that the answer to the OP's question.
