She presumably provided the egg rather than the sperm, so would be the mother. Whether she opts to act like a mother or a father to the child is up to her.
Unsure which truth you are considering was not apparent in 1968.
Society tends to have traditional roles, not just cultural but also instinctive, and each of the mother and father tend to give that experience of being one or the other to the child. But I'm sure that we all know this.
There are men who if their biology allows provides the sperm. There are women who if their biology allows provides the eggs.
That is a simple biological scientific fact.
Just because people mix their perceptions of biological sex and gender doesn’t change the scientific facts.
Hermaphrodites not withstanding, No man has ever given birth. There has been a case within the last few years of a woman who has augmented her body and taken drugs that appears to be a man has given birth. However it should be noted that she is still a biological woman regardless of surgery and drugs.
Producing a child either by donation of egg or sperm does not make a person a mother...it really is how the person raises said child.....there are men who are more mothers to their children than the women who gave birth to them
