Decorating our living room at the moment. Our new sofas arrive today but due to unforeseen circumstances the walls and floor haven't been finished.

What is the best way to cover them? Cloth sheets, plastic sheets or both.

Cloth ground sheets on the floor. As for the furniture, providing you are careful with them, Ummmm, the plastic throwaway dust covers are cheaper and will suffice.

Cheers, I'll buy lots. It'll only be the sofa left in the room.
Depends a lot on how messy a decorator you are ☺☺☺

For me its dust sheets on the floor, if carpet, plastic sheets underneath! Furniture the same, plastic sheets plus cloth sheets.

I'm actually quite good so I'm not so much worried about the painting. It's the dust from plastering.
I'd buy those cheap chuck away dust sheets too. You might want to consider taping them down though because they are a bit floaty and a draught can easily blow them off without you noticing.

Good thinking. I have plenty of tape :-)

I just can't believe to make something nice you seem to wreck the rest of the house!!
The sofas will be wrapped in plastic. I would leave that on and get extra plastic sheets to put over that. In the same circumstances that's what we did.
You can buy plastic sheeting on a roll from decorators merchants. You can also get plastic backed cotton dust sheets from the same place.
Beware of cheap cotton sheets, as the paint can go straight through them.

Naomi - it didn't come wrapped in plastic. That's what I was hoping for but as it's bulky they assemble it in the room.

I'll look for some on the roll Melv. I still have other rooms to do,
