Utilities, Why Are They So Hesitant To Give Your Money Back

I’m was in credit to the tune of £274 with EON but decided to switch to a company called igloo when my fixed term was up on the 16th September, my DDs come out on the 1st of each month so another £100 will go into EONs coffers whilst we await them refunding our credit, this is a mini rant so I’m putting it in CB, hope that’s okay?

I’m with HSBC and when I couldn’t do it, I rang my bank see if they could make the adjustments but they said it had to be with arrangement with the company

I'm confused - if you have already switched and are now with the new company, why would you expect EON to take another direct debit from you when you are no longer their customer?

Because I was told by them not to close the DD tuvok till they made the payment to me , my payments for everything come out the 1st/ 2nd of the month

I would doubt they'll take another payment (they shouldn't as you are no longer a customer, but you do hear of it happening).

From experience when I've switched, you give your new supplier an initial reading, then your previous supplier refunds you for upto that reading.
