............right? There must be a deal in place because we keep being told via TV and newspaper ads that we are leaving the EU on October 31st. An Act of Parliament prevents "no deal", so there must be a deal already agreed. We're all paying for this media campaign, and our Govt wouldn't tell us anything that wasn't true, would it?
We should never have joined in the first place. We were lied to. (how unusual from politicians!) I could see it and voted 'NO' I was amazed that so many people believed the rubbish!
Of course the government wouldn't lie to us 10CS, they're elected officials, why would we have voted for dishonest representatives?
In other news, with all these spending promises coming from the Conservative Party Conference, I'm assuming Mrs May's magic money tree has been found. We're all on easy street from now on! Hurrah!
The act of parliament can not prevent a no-deal result. It can only state one won't be sought. If the deadline is reached without a deal agreed, or yet another delay agreed, or legislation passed to withdraw A50, then we leave with no deal.
Sajid Javid just said on Today that the government was negotiating with the EU and was hopeful of a deal being reached. He wouldn't say what would happen if this was not achieved, just that we would be leaving the EU October 31, deal or no deal.
