I bought a car on finance January 24th 2019, on 30th jan2019 a car crashed into me at traffic lights. I've had nothing but stress with the repairs since then, which my insurance has dealt with. The other parties insurance are going to court has they have refused to pay out. They are saying it was low impact crash. Which it wasn't, My car has started to leak in water, due to the crash, in which I was stationary at traffic lights. and has to go back again to nationwide to be repaired. Also Trade Centre UK, (whom we had the car from )insured the car through my insurance company Budget Insurance )We realised the premium was very steep and we would change it during the week. Then the crash happened, and we were told because of a claim we could not change our policy and had to continue paying it. I feel we were coerced into this.
I do have a solicitor acting on my behalf for the insurance claim, but can never get in touch with him, am I in my rights to change him, to someone who may be able to assist us further ? If my car was to get written off due to high cost repairs where would I stand ?
Thank you in advance.

One problem is that if you bought the car on Finance then in law, it is The Finance Company who own the car until the Finance is paid off !
It should be The Finance company who take action, as legally it is their car! The car is only 'Security ' for the loan! But you can get another solicitor !
I'm not sure why you have a solicitor in this case as you have an insurance company looking after the claim- or are you also seeking damages for whiplash or uninsured losses?
The 'Motor Insurance Claims Bureau' is there for exactly this type of problem ! Get in touch with them !
I'm not sure what you mean there, eddie.
The MIB would normally help only if driver was uninsured/untraced or was a foreign driver, I understood.

Regarding the insurance policy premiums, presumably you were paying this via instalments. If you make a claim under the policy, you are obliged to continue paying until the policy expires, whether is is an annual policy or even a short term policy.
If it was your intention to cancel the policy shortly after its inception, in order to re-insure elsewhere, you would have been charged at a higher proportional rate, together with any administration charges, for a short term policy than for an annual policy.
