What would you do if.....

imagine you had really worked hard all your life and suddenly you realise that you are worth a small fortune, say upwards of �20m. But, say your lifestyle had not really kept pace with your net worth and suddenly that amount of money was going to be arriving in your bank. Now you have travelled the World extensively usually staying 5 star, still only middle aged, in good health with a happy family ilfe. Your healthy kids have left the nest and been fortunate enough to become financially secure under their own steam. You no longer need to work. What would you do?

Work.
Looking after that kind of fortune is nigh on a full time job anyway unless your aim is to spend it aimlessly.
I'd be choosy about the work of course.

If I was content with my current lifestyle and was happy and healthy, I'd firstly say a silent prayer of thanks for my fortunate situation and continue jogging along largely along as I always had done, recognising that some form of activity and structure in my life was probably necessary for continued emotional well-being. However, I wouldn't necessary continue in my chosen occupation unless I really enjoyed it. Perhaps I'd do voluntary work of some kind.
Then I'd consult a red-hot financial expert, make sure my Will was up to date and a trust fund was set up for children or grandchildren, and possibly set up another trust fund with some trustees to support some favourite charities.

Ah well, most of us can dream.........!

Well I agree with Wendy.
In addition to that Mr Sense works in the City.I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised that there are a lot of benevolent people still in the world. Some of the career bankers are people who have an ample sufficiency and have set up various foundations, in the last two years at least half a dozen of them are doing their jobs on a part time basis, whilst using their good fortune to either support an "disease' that is personal to them, one helps to educate youngsters in Third world, another supports talented youngsters in this country. These people are still in their forties and early fifties, realisation has hit that once you have a nice car, a nice house and your kids are off your hands - both emotionally and financially independant, they have decided to share the love as it were. One of them bought a business in a place he had ties to just to keep a lot of people in work( and their families in food and shoes). Depends what would be close to your heart.

I hope you are in such a position - you could make a difference to a lot of people.
