It seems like one big joke when shops/supermarkets say they are looking at ways to reduce plastic wrapping, yet supermarkets are giving over complete shelving units to Halloween plastic junk, it must add up to tons and tons of it flooding the market every year, and increasing.

The plastic pumpkin costing anything from £3 to as much as £8. What happened to mom or dad sitting with there kids and having fun cutting a real pumpkin face out, costing no more than a £1, and doing no harm when disposed of. When are we going to learn??

Going on some of the answer's and attitudes just go's to prove how high this hurdle is to overcome, that being, pollution. If it doesn't affect me directly at this present time, just ignore it, I'll wait until I start choking. :0)
Bonfire night happens here too - on practically every village green.
Errr, I didn't make a joke! Bonfire displays in my town are organised and ran by the fire brigade. I can't see anything remotely funny in that.
Oh Naomi Village greens?
Oh sounds so nice.
Enjoy it.
I used to make my own masks when I was a youngster, it were more fun than simply asking my folks to buy a plastic moulded one.
We’ve got friends who go the whole shebang with spiders hanging in webs, grotesque face masks ,orange and black ceiling decor, weird green lighting, culminating in a huge bonfire in their garden complete with fireworks , we went a couple of times as we always get an invite, but the whole medieval thing doesn’t do it for me at all
I'm making my own costume this year out of items of clothing I'll be able to reuse or re-purpose. The only thing I won't be able to reuse or purpose is the face paint i'll be applying.

I've always been a carver... Never bought or had any decorations that wasn't just a real pumpkin and a candle.

Best things about pumpkins is.. once used you can leave them at the bottom of the garden for birds and squirrels and other passers by to feast on.
My neighbours who have now moved away had three young girls who looked wickedly gruesome dressed up as witches. they'd pull out all the stop with Spiders, glowing skellybobs etc...
Theland, it is nice - and I do enjoy it.
Oh gosh Naomi, a bit of England to be enjoyed and preserved.
Don't wear a witches hat, please.
Why not, Theland? It's fun!!
Theland, you crack me up! Halloween is a Christian religious holiday and the masks are supposed to frighten off evil things not worship or celebrate the 'dark side' !
Halloween is a celebration observed in several countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
NOT devil worship!
