how come we have five foot thik walls in a nuclearplant to protect us from rediation and bury it under miles of earth when were done with the nuclear fuel but astronauts have one thin bit of material to protect them from the radiation being bombarded against them from the sun

Actually that's a very good question.

Most space flights stay well within the protection of the Earth's magnetic field.

The Apollo moon shots were different. If there'd been a major solar flare during the flight they'd have had to manoever the command module to put it between them and the sun and ride it out.

Those trips were quite short but it'd be a much bigger risk if anybody tries a Mars trip

did they land on the moon..... mmmmm i wonder the radiation would have killed them camera would have been useless film would have been damaged made byuniversal studio ....done to get one over on the russians
