Looking for recommendations for nice resorts in Tenerife with a promenade, decent bars and restaurants that's not overrun with hens/stags and 'brits abroad' ! Love Meloneras in Gran Canaria but fancy a change.

A bit of googling finds El Medano frequently recommended as being a 'quieter' resort that's still got plenty to offer:

Had a week in El Medano last year, in February. It is a small quiet town, not full of tourist type shops. Just a couple of miles south of the airport, so dont bother with a transfer, just jump in a taxi. Plenty bars and restuarants along the promenade. It is south facing so you wont get blasted by the predominantly northern winds. It is the winter training ground for the professional windsurfers from xmas until the end of march. Most roads leaving the town centre all seem to have steepish hills, just something you should be aware of .. we will certainly go back again.

I don’t know what your budget is but about, 25 years ago my family went to the Hotel Botanico. It was lovely. Good food and lovely pools etc for the kids.

If it's in the winter avoid the north of the island. It's often cloudy and can be wet.
