Just noticed that series 5 starts on BBC1 on Monday 18/11 at 16.30hrs. I love this show and really looking forward to it.

Call me cynical but how many of the items that we have seen repaired would ever have been mended if the owners had to pay. Some of the work we have seen must have been hugely expensive in terms of skill and man hours

We've also thought that. Every item is precious and treasured and yet many of them have needed repair for 20/30 years or more. Only get mended when its free and a chance to appear on tv.

It's a way of wakening folk up gently from their wee afternoon nap before tackling another repeat of the full-on Bigears and Lurch.

Similar is Salvage Hunters - The Restorers. But it's done on a commercial basis. Amazing skills some people have.
