Severe Pain In Both Hands

i wonder whether i have arthritis, and if so what can be done.
i have pain in both hands., they hurt around the knuckle areas but are generally not right. Two fingers on left hand often go numb, not sure whether this is a sign, if anyone can help I would be be most grateful.

telephone the GP who phoned back and i explained about the pain in both hands, which is causing me undue
pressure when doing most tasks. His suggestion was
that i take Paracetamol and come into the surgery.
I am not about to do that, legs are decidedly wobbly these days and it's a round trip of 1 1/2 hours
he said he thought it more likely osteoarthritis

So you are ignoring the advice of your GP...ok...…

If you are 45 minutes away from your GP have you not considered changing to a more local Practice?

Apg, yes i have, there is one just across the road, but i guess like a lot of things we don't change what we should, besides i have osteoarthritis in both knees, feet, this tends to restrict me to asking them to come to me, which they have done. But i didn't want to waste their time. Advice over the phone was ok, but i did forget to ask about having a blood test.

Like it or not, you MUST go to your Doctor !! There is a LOT that can be done ! But unless you see your doctor and get an accessment of what exactly is wrong nothing can be done !! Arthritis has a lot of causes !! it is NOT just one condition, it covers an entire range of problems !! But the first step is to see your Doctor and arrange a proper accessment !!

Just go to the doctor across the road ! They will accept you as a patient and will get your records transfered from the old Doctors !

^^^ no it doesn't -Eddie is talking a lot of sense. Who in their right mind expects a doctors from 45 minutes away to come visit them when they have a GP across the road!

No gp will travel 45 minutes to see a patient, ( I doubt )

45 minutes for Emmie doesn't mean 45 minutes for the GP.

I'd register across the road either way.

because i can't walk far and fast, it takes me 20 to 25 minutes to walk to the surgery. and by the time i wait for appointment then walk home it takes out the time i specified. A normal walking Dr would take about 15 minutes to walk to my home, thought i had better clarify that. I am considering ringing them up this morning and ask for an appointment.

went to see doctor and she said that the likeliest thing is osteoarthritis in both hands, and has given me co codamol to see if will ease it. But to be on the safe side is ordering a blood test so they can rule out RA.

Very sensible suggestion....although I cannot see the point of the blood test at this early stage.
