i might be slow here but why all the antisemitism with labour what wrong with being Jewish, its not as though there from another galaxy

I hold no brief at all for the Palestinians, but the actions of Israel against them have breached normal standards of humanity (and indeed International Law) so often as to be way beyond any acceptability - but to use that as an excuse to vilify all Jews and encourage hate crimes against them is both stupid and wrong.
There seem to be too many within certain echelons of the Labour Party who are unable to understand that.

As I understand it, the anti-Jewish movement began hundreds of years ago. The religion of the Jews forbade them from trading directly with gentiles, but the Jews turned to moneylending instead. Their rates of interest were sometimes seen as exorbitant. In the middle ages there were riots in York, in which Jews were targeted, and the trouble was caused by local nobles who didn't like paying the interest that the Jews demanded. Many Jews were killed, most notably in Clifford's Tower. That reputation has persisted throughout history, and probably has some bearing on the Jews' being singled out as undesirable persons nowadays.
