Just watching TV with Mrs T and felt damp.
I had wet myself.
Had to go bathroom, get washed and change clothes.
So embarrassed. No warning, no feeling. Never happened before.
Feel like crawling under a stone.

Your reaction is natural but don't panic, if it happens more than just occasionally make an appointment to see GP.

How's your prostate?
Don't be embarrassed but do see your GP.

Can I ask have you been drinking alcohol?

Don’t be embarrassed T, may be just a one off occasion. If continues seek advice .
Stress incontinence can be caused by certain medications, so perhaps it's simply a side effect of somethign you're taking for one of your other problems? (If so, getting your doctor to prescribe something else might prevent a recurrence of the problem).

Start here anyway

and have a word with your GP.

(PS: Even though I don't suffer from urinary incontinence, I know the feeling you've experienced. My catheter tube has become disconnected - resulting in leakage - in Asda, when I've been at a friend's house and on a few other occasions).

Yes had a few cans, and take tab lets for enlarged prostate.
Perhaps get some Tena pads to reduce embarrassment if it happens again.
Aww don't worry Theland, these things happen. No need at all to feel embarrassed. It may never happen again, but if it does, some good advice has been given on here x
When it became necessary both my parents, who lived with me, wore Boots' own brand, disposable, incontinence pants. They were quite slim fitting, soft and comfortable and available in different sizes. To protect the furniture, I put Pampers' bed mats, under throws, on their chairs. Their incontinence was never a problem once I'd discovered adult disposable pants.

See your GP in case you have something that can be sorted and if not give a pack of disposables a go. They are not cheap but would give you peace of mind.

Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about, Theland. As Carrot99 says, there are products out there specially for men and its very common.
It could even be just a urine infection (or from alcohol). It's natural to feel embarrassed, but maybe watch the drinking and if it happens again, drop a urine sample to your GP first x
Billy Connoly had the same problem Theland ..
.. Warning be prepared to wet yourself again .. 8-)

First thing is to get some pads. Secondly, you have a prostate problem, I seem to remember. I think I'm right in saying that that affects almost 100% of men, including Mr.J2 a few years ago. After tests to check against cancer, a simple resection by laser has solved the problems - thank goodness, I was getting fed-up of being woken at night as he got up to go to the loo! Laser surgery is now available in the UK, I believe - he was home 2 days later, none the worse.

What is an additional embarrassment is the sheer number of health issues I have.
If I go to the doctors, I can only discuss one issue then have to make another appointment for the next problem.
I feel like a nuisance.
Thank goodness for Answerbank, where I can freely talk about these things with sympathetic people. Thank you.
Can you change doctors? That's ridiculous. So many ailments go hand in hand with others.
Theland, ask the surgery for a ‘ double appointment’.
Yes, that’s what I do, ask for a 20 minute appointment.
Question Author
Yes. Thinking of a double. Good idea.
Agree with Anne, ask for a double appointment and write down what you want to talk to your GP about so you don't forget to mention something.
