I went to a local chemist around the corner (needs must and all that). I was a bit sceptical about what she sold me so I went to the Boots branch which was up the road in Bangkok to verify that I had actually been sold the right thing. Yes, of course I had they said. When I got home and my throat was as bad as ever I went to the GP and she said that my antibiotics were very interesting as that type were given to people with bone infections after surgery.
I would certainly take amoxicillin from a reputable source than chance poking around with a needle I always have some on hand. I wouldn't take any other type of antibiotic though. After all, on the continent you can buy amoxicillin from a chemist. Unless you are allergic to penicillin, it's safe and its what you would get from A&E.
