I have had 2 mothers-in-law and am pleased to say that I loved them and they loved me! My advice to anyone about to take on a new mother in law is to accept them and always keep them sweet, even if you don't particularly like them, as they make fantastic baby sitters, when the time comes....and that is really important!!!

The problems I think arise when MIL (or mum, for that matter) think that you're doing things 'wrong' or don't respect your wishes, then it gets sticky. Mine's great though...
