The director of Poundland as said that all stores will now sell multi price items, maybe up to the value of £7, (this is to give customers more choice and better value.) What a load of poppy cock, why not just say they can no longer survive on selling one pound items. They make me smile when every change they make is for the good of the customer. Is it?

they're planning to float on the stock market next year so they're going to cut all their costs first. They'll presumably need a name change.

There's still a big market for £1 goods but quite a lot of businesses competing for it.
It always has been and always has been about customer choice.

I buy bits and pieces from a site called Everything£5 and they have a VIP section with dearer goods.

But they are only allowed to chose from what is offered.
I don't mind what they do if they are struggling to stay open, too many shops vanishing from the High Street which is a shame.

@15.36 and what as been offered up until now, is what they can sell for a pound and still make a good profit. Its got nothing to do with customer choice, (neither selling more expensive items, just my point.)
On a similar theme to that of your post, Teacake44, I always smile when I see signs saying that CCTV is in use "for the safety and security of our customers". So it's got absolutely nothing to do with keeping their stock out of the hands of shoplifters then?

Yep ^^ why treat us like idiots, its common sense that sooner or later that most pound items would come to an end, they've already gone down the road of reducing the size, or contents of an item over the last 2/3 years, and that can't continue.
I can't get up in the air about it really, add a section called 'Pound Plus', would that appease?
Anyone old enough to remember when everything at Woolies was either 3d or 6d?
The girl on the pick & mix insisted she was more than that :-(
she wasn't Elsie Tanner, then?
They started doing this from the 1st day here in Spain, when they opened up the spanish poundland " dealz". Everything is labelled from €1.50 to as much as €10.
It’s got everything to do with customer choice. If the customer doesn’t like what’s on offer they shop elsewhere.
Don't know that they'd need a name change. Currently
