Err what's wrong with that sentence? "self drive"?? how can that be human error? well unless it is referring to the whole mental idea in the first place.

Tora has been told the difference between self driving and autonomous before. Driverless cars are one of his favourite soap box subjects. He doesn’t realise that it’s only a matter of time, and tweaking technology.
He professes to have in depth knowledge of AI, having (allegedly) spent most of his career in it. He dodged my questions on a previous thread. Maybe YOU can pin him down?

Oh okay, well software is certainly capable of doing it as driverless cars have driven hundreds of millions of miles on public roads. Accidents will occur but historically that’s never been a reason to ban any form of transport that brings improvements in speed, cost and convenience.

what was your question ZM? I can't be bothered to read 129 entries. I am not an expert on AI specifically just software in general, I've worked in it all my life and believe me even in a controlled environment with limited variants on inputs it struggles.

No it's not our Merc cant even keep it's engine going because the software is not coded correctly or some sensor (that does not show up on the fault table) cant read it. And it's not that old.

The software is a miles off, despite what you are told by those that want to make a buck.

But the software is doing it, hundreds of millions of miles of it to date - are you saying that’s not true because your car has developed a fault?

I think YMB is illustrating that faults occur in hardware or the software does not cater for a particular situation.

It's a bad illustration because despite the sometimes fatal faults and problems that undeniably occur with Mercedes, planes, trains, mobile phones and tumble dryers they are integral to the lives of billions of people because overall the good outweighs the bad. I mean YMB actually paid a lot of money for one of these things that apparently doesn't work properly, which is actually quite an endorsement of the product.

Historically when one of those or other new technologies are created many people claim 'too dangerous' 'it'll never work', 'you'll never get me in one of those' and 'what would anyone want one of those for' but when the world begins to move past them they get on board or get left behind.
