Following on from clovers post below....
Why is it that humans have always sort to get 'high' on one substance or another?
(If not from a chemical then certainly from adrenalin)
Mankind has always sort out mind/mood altering substances or experiences, whether its alcohol, nicotine, weed, smack, crack, caffeine, speed, psychedelics etc or adrenalin inducing highs like dangerous sports, porn, gambling, white knuckle rides etc

Thanks ;-)

Because they're there.
Life's tough - it's nice to escape for a while?
I don't.
I an like Naomi, I don't.
A lot of you what you mention is also used as an escapism.

I wouldn't include nicotine or caffeine though.
I too think it's a combination of curiosity and escapism, for may drug induced highs are as near to an out of body experience without actually almost dying in the process (as long as you get it right of course).

Adrenalin highs, well people never really think the worst is going to happen to them but there's always a risk and that's dangerous but exciting.

Will the parachute open, can you get the car round that hairpin bend at this speed, are you sure there are no sharks in this stretch of water?. and so on.

I think that type of risk taking is inbuilt in some people.
