Let us pretend that people will come from both angles.

Those who are comfortable with shared facilities but find objection to the urinal in my opinion may be a bit sensitive. The only options they have would be, to write a formal complaint requesting more aesthetic urinals, to request that it is cubicles only or avoid using the facilities completely, which should not be an option.

Those who are not comfortable with shared facility’s (In this case, I think the focus is women?) will of course find objection to that urinal. It’s horrific and I can tell you that it smells awful, any man could. But, if they are not happy with shared facilities in general then that is where the issue primarily lays.

Large enough private cubicles would seem to be the answer? I have seen them many times in family-focused environments, but that isn't the case everywhere.

I have personally never seen a shared facility with urinals and if I did it would surprise me. I would still use the urinal though if I needed to.

Urinals are more efficient - that's why theatres always had queues for the Ladies but not the Gents. If the toilets were all cubicles the interval would have to be longer than the show!

I am pointing out that there is a choice of toilets to visit on site.

Regarding larger cubicles, which I didn't know was part of the issue - that has long been the case they are small.

Regarding the smell, they really shouldn't smell to any high degree.

I would not want to use a cubicle after a man, or numerous men. After a lifetime in pubs the gents toilets are pretty grim.

Otherwise...I couldn't care less.

Those who want to be gender neutral shouldn't be concerned about facilities. They claim to be 'neutral' - so why aren't they?

Shared facilities are unacceptable - and even more so if they house urinals. Horrible!

As Buenchico has said, loos are very often unisex in France - and Spain. As long as they're clean it doesn't bother me at all if I have to walk past urinals.

Yes, I agree that many men's rooms at pubs are quite horrible. However, I have seen some horrific women's toilets also. I don't want to get too into it, but red marks on the under side of the toilet seat is not something a male wants to see whilst picking up the seat, as not to urinate on it.

It's not all about women. I don't think many men would be happy sharing public toilets with women. They have their pride too you know. ;o)

Emmie that goes for the male and female toilets. If the male toilets are disgusting, surely that is a failure of the pub to clean properly?

A pub can't be expected to check the toilet conditions after each use. Also, this situation has occurred not only in pubs, but also shop toilets.

at Milan Linate airport one afternoon a few years ago (a microcosm of Italian chaos if ever there was), the ladies toilets were out of action and everyone was using the gents. 2 business types were stood tackle in hand, one said to the other "aren't you worried what the non-standard visitors will see?"
"No", said his companion, "the inch has just been revalued against the centimetre"......
