Yesterday I went to a mall and saw a little Jack Russell tied up outside - the lead being one of those short ones so he couldn't move much.
I was stroking him when a girl came up to me and said - is that your dog - no I said - she said because I was going to get very angry with you if it was - she proceeded to tell me the dog had been tied up for at least 2-3 hours - he was there when she went in to shop and was there when she came some hours later.
I went to said mall myself and found a security person and told him about it. Oh yes - it is a couple who shop here every day and it is for at least 3 hours.
I went out and still the poor wee thing - I wrote a note - tucked it under his "tight" collar - and said - please do not leave this dog out here ever again. Next time you will be reported and you will have no dog. I said something else but can't remember exact words.
Oh hush. Go find an issue with someone else and stop name checking me. A whole load of people could say the same thing as me but my answers are always the ones you pick up on. Sad!
No...I didn't call you a liar. Show me where I did...
My point, if you care to try and understand it, is these people can't be written off as morons etc etc just on your say so. They could be perfect otherwise (did you actually read that bit or are you jumping on hereIam's bandwagon?)
I've owned dogs. I have never tied up a dog. You have though, JJ, you have said before that you used to tie up Harvey. So really, you aren't in a position to criticise.
I'm wondering now if I should feel guilty for leaving Sally...where I could see her...outside a shop in a small precinct. For her/us, if was a kind of milestone. She was a nervous dog...we took it almost "inch by inch" so she slowly got used to it. I've never heard of any dogs hurt or taken from that area...many people leave their dogs there.
Now you can all shout at me...
Hereiam is an expert on dog behaviour but has no knowledge of dogs that suffer separation anxiety when left home alone. My dogs have never been bothered by fireworks but I know some dogs are. All dogs are different and what is good for one is bad for another. Some dogs cannot be left home alone and treats and background music don’t help.
My dog had separation anxiety so I'd leave him as little as possible. Luckily I worked from home so rarely had to leave him or take him to the shops with me.
