You won’t see a Portillo moment in this constituency, the LibDems are laughingly being over-hyped there and nationally.
After this election they will still be the 4th Party, a long way behind the SNP.
Speaking of the Portillo moment, it is worth remembering the occasion in 1997. Stephen Twigg did indeed turn over a 15,000 majority on the wave of Blairmania. Sadly Twigg himself was dumped by the voters of Enfield Southgate in 2005 when they re-elected a Tory. But Twigg now had friends in high places, and he was parachuted into a safe Labour seat in Liverpool where he still represents in the HoC.
Portillo reinvented himself from an arch Thatcherite, into a pleasant TV host, which is our gain. Twigg meanwhile is an obscure footnote in history and just a career politician whose light dimmed many many years ago.
