Optometrists

Are the optometrists themselves trained to adjust spectacles? The last glasses I bought about 4 years ago did not fit very well. They were very expensive. I went back three times and each time one of the ‘front of shop’ girls adjusted them. The last time a girl said ‘if they break it’s your responsibility’. I have just had new ones and they were very expensive but I don’t fancy letting ‘anyone’ have a go so I wondered whether the optometrist himself would make a better job? Sorry for the ramble.... Bramley.

Adjustment of specs frames depends on the material of the frames.... plastic, thin "wirey" metal, stronger steel or titanium and whether they have separate adjustable nosepads (which I always go for). If you're dubious about adjustment, ask to see the shop owner/ manager and voice your concerns.

well Bramley I believe you could have adjusted spectacles years ago but now it is one size fits all - when you bring them back to optometrists - they "warm" them up and squeeze and do what they have to do and "hope" they fit you.
I too asked about the adjustments but this is what I was told and I went to Specsavers LOL
