I took early retirement because after years in a decent company I suddenly found myself with an idiot boss, and thought "Why do I put up with this? ... Hang on, I don't have to." I was fortunate that they were desperately bribing people to leave anyway, so I was well paid at the exit, and I hope you're financially secure. But it feels great not to have to put up with rubbish every day any longer.
Important now to find yourself an alternative to work, something you like. I got stuck into family history research, my OH got stuck into gardening, but all sorts of things from stamp collecting to ocean cruising are available. Good luck!
