One of the semi finals in local quiz last night (semis held over 4 nights). Pleased to say our team, the Creme Eggheads, got through to the final by the skin of our teeth. Fingers crossed for the 11th - would be nice to win some cash for a local charity.

There are only two things I miss since moving from the UK. My local wool and fabric shop and the pub quiz... :-)

THECORBYLOON - couldn't say exactly how many teams take part over the year as the quiz runs from January to early November and there might be four quizzes per week. Each quiz is organised by a group/charity to raise money through entry fees, raffle and auction. The winning team from each quiz is invited to the semi-finals (4) in early December. Last night's quiz had 20 teams so we were all winners from a previous quiz. Top 4 from each semi-final go forward to the final next week so there will be 16 teams competing. Top team can win £500 for their chosen charity. There's also a second and third monetary prize. We've never won the £500 but have won a smaller amount three times. Once for Samaritans, once for Togs for Tots and once for the prem baby unit at Ninewells Hospital. We haven't chosen our charity for this year yet but it will be a local one.
