Went into Sainsburys yesterday for bits and bobs, walked past the hot counter, and the chips looked nice, and I was just a bit peckish, never normally bother with such. Well I asked for some chips to have a nibble at, on asking for them, the young girl looked at me and said, ( do you mean the potatoe wedges) now there was only these on show along with a show of chicken, so I said, ( do they taste like chips) she looked at me a bit odd :0) OK I'll have wedges. Question, am I just down right common, and need to get my act together, or was this an EU directive. :0)
Wedges might have skins on or off, but they are baked. Chips are deep fried. Thats why oven chips never taste quite like chips, although I dont mind them myself.
As said 6 mince pies at Sainsburys cost £1 for six, they must buy them for about 50/60p, how they arrive at 40p for one in the café is madness, they don't deserve to do any customers. And they wonder why most of the day their empty.
Geezz....how much do you think you should be charged for a mince pie? 40p sounds like a bargain. There's overhead and the running of the cafe, and salaries to be paid. Doesn't matter if it's Sainsbury's or a local cafe.
