Death Row

Do you think we should have a Death Row in this country like they have in some states in America?
People who are found guilty of violent crimes such as terrorists and those found guilty of knife and gun crimes who can languish for sometimes years before it's decided if they should be executed.

Although to answer the question, I think (now) that there are some exceptional cases, where execution is the only reasonable way forward.

Sorry I was absent from this thread yesterday, but just wanted to thank you all for your replies.
ladybirder thanks for picking up on what johnny.5 said. Parts of our country are not civilised at all and I really don't see why we should be civil towards the people who commit these crimes.
Bringing up cases from the past has no bearing on what is happening today. Yes if we still had the death penalty, those people might have been executed but as I've said before, I don't know the ins and outs of what happened back then so I can't comment, but if we had the death penalty and death row now, those people would have plenty of time to appeal and more evidence found. Is this one of the cases where the evidence was flakey? I could only say I would only agree with execution if it could be proved beyond any doubt that the person was guilty as in the cases of those I mentioned previously plus a few others that have come to mind. Harold Shipman and Beverley Allitt. Obviously all terrorists as I don't believe they can reform, people who kill members of the police force as in Dale Cregan and all serial killers. Thanks again for all your replies. x
