I heard a rumour that father ted was going to be remade with leslie nielson playing ted. does anyone know anything about it?

Oh no! Please! I like Leslie Nielsen, but FT just wouldn't be right without the original triumvirate. They should just leave the existing episodes to be appreciated for what they are.

The phrase 'gilding the lilley' comes to mind.

Oh no that would be awful. some awful american film/version like the pitiful remake of the Pink panther. I like Leslie Nielsen and I like Steve Martin - but when will they stop mucking about with an institution like dermot morgan Ardal O'Hanlonor for that matter the one and only Peter ~Sellers

That's an old rumour. If there were ever plans to do this (and you know the way rumours are - quite often there's nothing to them at all) then they've surely fallen through anyway.
