I usually LOVE Xmas - tree is always up 1st Saturday in December, decorations everywhere, presents bought and wrapped already, cards posted etc etc...... all the Xmas films on etc etc......
But this year all I’ve done so far this year is buy the tree! Haven’t written a single card, bought a scrap of food, nothing. Is it just me?? Am not in the festive mood at all.

this is all rather depressing to read.
I'm by myself for the first time ever - will have lunch with a friend but not here....Home first and then on to their place or a restaurant....
Great memories of when my six kids were at home, sheer madness and they loved it.
Now I don't want to get out of bed most days, and have already turned down an invitation to go to one of my sons for dinner etc on the day.
I hope Mrs T goes, she likes that, but I am happy just knowing everybody else is happy.
I just want my own company, and TV.
Mrs T bought a tree, (sigh), so that will have to be baubled in case grandkids call.
I hope everybody here has a great time. X
I think the political turmoil has had an impact. I had been feeling quite down, then I had a problem with my arm, then a bout of laryngitis that led to a cold. I swear it was stress. Feel better now the election is over. Looking forward to spending time with the children and grandchildren. I have friends and family who will be alone, and others who have lost loved ones this year, so I have decided to make each Christmas as special as I can while I have the chance.
Carole that is a lovely attitude to have xx
Christmas changes over the years and is so dependent on circumstances, if you have an invalid in the house or have had a bereavement then Christmas will take on a different feeling.

Personally I have accepted that and changed along with it - always look forward to it , I love the lights and sparkle.

Whatever type of Christmas you are having, try to enjoy. ♥
Even if you don't like it or you're not in the mood you make the effort for other people... don't you? I do. It's selfish not to.

100%....
Good post from andres. I'm not in a Christmas mood at all, as it will be my first as the last of my family. Crosswords and long walks for me, though for some reason today I thought I might go to a Christmas church service for the first time in decades.
Goodness gracious so many Scrooge’s on one site. The day has the significance that you bestow upon it. Don’t overindulge, except in goodwill to your fellow man.
Crack a smile, if only for fond memories. God bless us everyone. Including the humbugs:-)
I agree with naomi, it really is about other people. My sister still takes the pee lightly, because one year I invited her (very) ex over for Christmas, when I found out that since losing his parents, he had spent every Christmas wandering around the village.
Everybody got him a small present and he was properly included. He said it was the best Christmas he had ever had. And I still remember that years later.
I wrapped most of my presents yesterday but can't be bothered to wrap the last couple.

Things were going well until last Monday when I fell out with Little Tiggs's dad. Haven't spoken to him since then but before that we used to speak every day.

I determined not to let it ruin Christmas for Little Tiggs and I.
I'm feeling a bit better today so got myself up and out of the house and did some Christmas shopping and got some tinsel and decorations up when I got home.

I also had a lovely pre-Christmas surprise earlier. I had been worried about a lovely elderly gentleman who goes to the same coffee shop as me. We'd often have a good chat but he disappeared very suddenly a while back, which was really concerning. I saw him today and he is fine, thank goodness. So that was a wonderful early Christmas present :)
