im going to cuba in september and someone told me i cant get money changed untill i go over. is this true? also what currency is it

I went last year and we took Dollars tavellers cheques which we cashed in the hotel for Cuban Dollars as that is the currency they used but we also used some US dollars we took with us, you can't take the Cuban Dollars out of the country as they are not valid anywhere else. Which also means you can't buy them before you go, take some dollar bills for tipping at the airport but don't lket anyone rush off with your cases or you may lose them.

we went to the Iberostar Daiquiri on cayo Guillaume, that is a very isolated place really, too far to travel into Varaderro, if I had known i probably would have opted for Varredro, but saying that, you can't spoil the Carribean, and the sea and the beach was absolutely stunning, it was very shallow for about 100 yards out but the fish came right in , amazing. I have said this alot on here, but take some old designer gear with u to trade for gifts from the stall holders, they love it, any old mobiles you havem they wil buy as long as you have the charger with you. I went in may and the mozzies loved me!!! Do go on the catamaran trip around the island it is amazing too. We didn't get to havana as it was a long expensive flight and it would have been in a not so great looking plane.
