Sky Plus and USB

My Sky Plus box has a USB(2) socket fitted to it ?
Do I need any drivers ?
What format will the video files be stored in ?
Is there any point me trying to transfer videos to my PC ?
Alternatively - is the USB socket designed for a HardDisk for extra storage ?

When i saw the usb socket on my box i bought a leed, and conected it to my pc and nothing happened. i use windows xp so it should pick it up but nothing. i dont think it's for an external hd but not sure.

Thank you for your email concerning the USB ports on your Sky+ system.

At Sky we aim to be at the forefront of technology and when there are any new products or options available to Sky customers we will advertise them in our Sky magazine or on EPG 998.

I can confirm that USB ports on your Sky+ system are for further use. Sky will advise customers what this is for when the option becomes available.
