I could understand this happening in the sea, but in a hotel swimming pool? What on earth could have happened?

Knowing how to swim & being able to do so & help some in difficulties (in a panic situation) aren't quite the same. Very sad.

I got sucked into a filter system in a hotel pool. Luckily my mother was close by and pulled me out. It's nothing to do with being able to swim.

I still have the scars.

From another site, 'A member of staff who reportedly dived into the pool to try and save the family is also said to have experienced “difficulties” trying to escape the water, according to Malaga newspaper Diairio Sur.'

If four folk had some difficulties, it would appear something was amiss and a further investigation is required.
