Diabetes/call The Midwife
31 Answers
Just watching probably a re-run of the above programme and haven't watched the full episode as I am on my way to bed. But the gentleman was getting treated or trying to be treated for diabetes.
My mother had diabetes some 30 years or more ago and until she had it I never heard of it in my life.
How long has diabetes been around.

I'll offer a contribution.
According to my nephew (who is Type 1 diabetic and gives himself the insulin 3 times a day) - well his wife has said this.
She said that he has that thing (Libre) in his arm and according to her it doesn't give a true reading. Now I'm going on her word.
She said it just (Libre in the arm) gives a reading of High or Low. She said when it was Low - she gave him more and more sugar and it kept on saying it was Low so she said to him to give himself the prick and it gave a true reading.
That's all I know.

That is completely incorrect. The Libre sensor actually monitors your blood glucose continuously and, so long as you don't leave it more than six hours between readings, will show you a 24-hour blood glucose level. It's extremely accurate, more so than finger pricing, and gives a value to one decimal point e.g. 5.1, 6.2 etc.

Scroll down a bit to the picture of the woman taking a reading, which shows a blood glucose level of 6.7, which is normal for someone with Type II.
