I saw a snippet of what looks like a rly good classic film that i'd like to see all the way thru.
Basically it's about a black mother and her mixed race child. The child wants to be white and shuns her black roots. One scene was the mother turning up to her daughter's school to hand her something in class, and the girl running out because her classmates had found out that her mother was black. Think it's from the early 60's.
I'm sure it was on one of those 100 greatest movies countdowns on channel 4 last weekend, have looked on the website and can't find the film tho! Does anyone have any idea wat film this is??
There are quite a number of versions of "Imitation of Life" It's always been a favouite of mine as my aunt showed it to me when I was around 12 and Now voyager too with Bette Davis. The scene you dscribed is in the film but the bst scene for me has to be the girl running after her mother's coffin being pulled by a horse-driven hearse screaming I'm sorry Mamma. Will keep you blubbing for ages.
