Looked great (where were those locations?), well-directed, but what a pathetic, woeful script. I think all the praise for Peaky Blinders has gone to Steven Knight's head, and he thinks he can improve Dickens. He can't. And Guy Pierce hopelessly miscast.
It's an adaptation of one of his novellas, Emmie, not a glowing tribute to him. And, for all you know, Dickens himself may have enjoyed this interpretation of his work. I honestly thought it well done throughout all 3 episodes and I really enjoyed it. Reckon the writer should turn his attention to Oliver Twist next. Plenty of scope there for a Gothic take?
