can anyone advise me on this... i want to open an account with a bank that will allow me a solo card as i am a discharged bancrupt for nearly 2 years now, when applying online it said i have to go into a local branch with proof that i am discharged... i have been told that you can get a letter from the officail reciever stating this but at a cost, i was bancrupt for a term of a year apart from my original bancrupcy letters with the dates on etc will this not do if i go into the bank... has anyone else had this experience and what paperwork will do or will i have to pay out for a dishcharged letter?

You do have to prove evidence of address but I got my account set up in about 1week. I was only discharged about 3 months ago and all natwest asked was if I had ever been declared bankrupt before, no evidence required to prove this. good luck x
thanks for your reply, have i got this right, are they giving u a solo card too? because thats what i am really after, i have a nationwide account but its the basic which is fine but i really want a solo card to pay for things online etc... and nationwide do not do that, i think it was tsb i applied online for.... so will you get a solo card with natwest and did you advise them you were ex bancrupcy? regrads sack)6470

You could try a prepaid MasterCard? This would be a full CHIP & PIN MasterCard, but its prepaid..

hi, thanks for all ur advice, i rung the official reciever and was told that i could apply to the court for a letter of discharge for 60.00 or if i write to the O.R he will send me a letter of confirmation free that is normally accepted as proof at most banks etc, so i will try that before i have to part with 60.00 .... thanks again all!
