I like him, too - he's good on The Chase. But he's completely useless in Doctor Who, and I have no interest in watching his 'holiday snaps' with his son. Same with Larry Lamb and his son.

By the time you've taken out the adverts, the programme is only around 20 mins long. I also watche White House Farm last night and the actual prog was around 40 mins long i.e. 20 mins of adverts in an hours prog!

There is clearly an audience for his 'off-duty' programmes, so he makes them, and why not?

It doesn't appeal to me, not because I don't like him, it's just that the format is not for me, doubly so for Larry and George Lamb because I do dislike both of them.

It's the usual story - don't like it? Watch something else, it's not three channels like when I grew up you know!

As for filming schedule, TV series are generally filmed all at the same time. E.g. an entire series of Only Connect is filmed over a single weekend.
